President - Cynthia Whitcomb is a former screenwriting teacher at UCLA and has sold over 70 screenplays. She currently teaches screenwriting classes locally along with working on her current scripts. Cynthia is responsible for chairing monthly board meetings and generally conducts the Portland monthly membership meetings, which are also open to the public. Vice President/Membership - Ann Buenzli is the Program Coordinator for the 2009 Willamette Writers Conference. She is also the booking agent for Mike Thaler, the author of 200 children's books including the Black Lagoon series for children. Vice President/Program - Randal Houle. Randal's novel projects include mystery, science fiction and a story about the Centralia massacre of 1919. When he is not writing, he sells plots at a local cemetery where he has won awards for his service. He also serves on the Cemetery Board in Washougal, WA where he lives with his wife and their four kids. Treasurer - Sylvia Bischoff. Secretary - Joni Heyman is responsible for meeting minutes. She teaches writing at PCC and is the author of Lessons From an Oak Tree. Newsletter Manager - Leona Grieve does freelance editorial work and teachers writing workshops. She is responsible for the publication of Willamette Writers monthly newsletter.
Books for Kids Coordinator - Jerry Isom is a retired Certified Public Accountant. He is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Books for Kids. Young Willamette Writers - Corey Stixrud is chairman of the Young Willamette Writers.
Southern Oregon Chapter - Valerie Foster coordinates the monthly meetings in Medford and arranges for speakers. Mid-Valley - JoJo Jensen coordinates monthly meetings in Eugene. She's a published author, teacher, and has done PR work.
Sponsorships and Grants - MaryMargaret Maitland has written many grants for Willamette Writers that have been funded. She writes fiction. Awards and Kay Snow Contest - Lizzy Shannon was born and grew up in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Lizzy is presently a Literary Consultant with the Pacific NW Literary Associates in Portland, Oregon, and offers a full-range editing service. |
